If you don't want to read it all- they are planning a season 2 (so taking place after episode 130), but more like 50 episodes that are around 4 minutes each. No release date- the interview was from May 2008, and at the time they were in the middle of Gemini Devision.

What Would Have Happened on Sliders?

"Sliders" was a great show that starred Jerry O'Connell, Cleavant Derricks, Sabrina Lloyd and John Rhys Davies (initially anyway). O'Connell played young scientest Quinn Mallory who discovered how to open wormholes that led to alternate realities. Early tests bring Quinn back to Earth, but when he changes a setting, they get stuck on an alternate Earth for a number of hours, the wormhole reopens and sends them all to another Earth. The first few seasons were good, then co-creator Tracy Torme started criticizing the show and David Peckinpah came in and changed the show's direction- and not really for the better. Characters were killed off, new ones brought in, and by the end, the only original cast member was Derricks- "Rembrandt Brown." Even Jerry O'Connell had left, replaced by someone who was supposed to have all of Quinn's memories but trapped in someone else's body.

The last episode had the Sliders coming into a reality where they were worshipped and Sliding was some sort of religion. A psychic on this world had been watching them clairavoyantly and he's able to prove it by various paintings and his impossible knowledge of their previous slides. He warns them that the next slide would be there last. After a whole lot of hoopla and drama, Rembrandt slides alone after being injected with a virus that could stop the evil Kro-mags from taking over the alternate Earths and the remaining Sliders were left with an uncertain future and without a timer (as it gets destroyed). Surprisingly, there's not a whole lot of information as to what would've happened should there have been a season six, but there are a whole lot of questions.

With all indications that the fifth season was the last, why promote a cliffhanger?

In an online chat, Story Editor Keith Damron talked about a big-budget Kromagg battle royale that would use Geiger's combine technology to boot the Kromaggs off Earth Prime. It never came to be, and "The Seer" was produced in its place.

According to the Dimension of Continuity, the cliffhanger was predicated by production and by executive producer Bill Dial in particular to make cancelling the show harder — because the Sci-Fi Channel essentially ignored production.

The cliffhanger was the result of a production team attempting to fight back for having complete creative freedom over their stories, something Tracy Tormé had been fighting for since the beginning of the show.

Cleavant Derricks wished to keep the show going and pushed for a cliffhanger himself. "I never think it should end with any kind of closure," he insists. "I think one or all of us will go on to slide. The thing about sliding — in all of our imaginations — is that once you start it is difficult to stop. I don't care what your goals may have been along the line, but once you start it's very hard to give up."

I also read the Derricks thought that Prof. Arturo (Rhys Davies) should have returned for the 6th season as there was another episode that hinted Arturo and a double had switched places (or that the original had been forced to somehow), and it was the double that was killed, something that Tracy Torme had said as much during an interview.

So there's not much out there- not that I've been able to find anyway- but the cool thing about Sliders is that the possibilities were endless, so it's fun to imagine what might've happened.

What Would Have Happened on Journeyman...?

There's a great interview over at Ain't It Cool News with Kevin Falls that discusses some of what would've happened had "Journeyman" not been cancelled. It's not quite as specific as I would have liked, but enlightening none-the-less.

Some highlights:

Yes, Olivia was alive in 2008.

Deleted scenes had Dan betting on games in the past for money.

The season finale would have had Dan finding both Katie and Zack completely gone from his life.

Of course, that's how Fox is going to market it, but knowing JJ Abrams's shows well, I'd have to venture a guess that it's going to be quite different. All right- I sooooo cannot wait for this evening, especially with the clips from tonight's two-hour season finale over at Eonline (go check out Watch With Kristin). They're all great- but the last one, between Daniel, Charlotte and Miles REALLY has my interest peaked. I wish there was a way to post it here, but for some reason it never works (why, Blogger, why ?!?).

Moonlight- A Perhaps "What Would Have Happened" on Season 2

I found this gem over at a forum that was discussed at "Moonlightcon" (I have no idea what this is, admittedly):

1) Officially DEAD: Ryder, Lt.Carl, and ..brace yourselves...Sarah Whitley. Yep he said they are all done, though wouldn't reveal how they ended up gone...

2) Simone, Josef's freshie, was to be a big part of the season, however the actress playing her failed to mention she's pregnant, so they're not sure about what to do with that.

3) Beth IS indeed part of the French Royal bloodline and she does hold the key to the cure which is why she was kidnapped. He also said that because of this Beth CAN NOT be turned. Whether that means she can't because it wouldn't work or it can't because she would die was left up in the air...

) The season was going to revolve around a group called "The Legion" who have been around forever. They are humans and THEY GAVE THE LIST TO TALBOT!!! They feel that the vampire population has gotten out of control in Los Angeles and needs to be reduced. They basically declare war with the vampires and IT IS SO ON! Lance & Coraline return and ask Mick to help. Basically he now only has one choice - fight with the vampires or fight with the humans. He said total vampire apocalypse would indeed be the case. One planned scene was having the L.A. River at night FULL with 100s of Cleaners taking on the Legion army - wow, can you just picture that???

5) The bad news, and I must stress that this is *right now* and things can always change, so don't freak out too much, but... apparently Sophia refuses to move to New York for filming. Which means we would lose our Beth. As you can imagine we all started screaming that there was no point without her in it. I mean, I love our boys but theres no ML without MickBeth for me, personally. Lets hope they get to stay in L.A. after all or that Sophia will change her mind. AGAIN, nothings 100% right now, so please don't start emailing her, lol.

Ahhh....CBS Ye Knew Me- Not at All!

Well, they tanked "Jericho" with sticking it at 10 on Tuesday nights, and now they've axed "Moonlight." You go, CBS. Let's see how many more viewers you can tick off. The only shows I'll be watching are "Ghost Whisperer," which I'm surprised has survived as long as it has, "How I Met Your Mother," (thank God someone had enough sense to renew that) and "Big Bang Theory." Someone else in my household may turn on "Survivor", but I won't be paying attention- I'm over that, big time. The rest of your shows aren't in the demographic that you want to win: ie, mine (CSI and all of it's spin offs and the other crap you've got on), but I see the logic (not) in cancelling a show that consistently pulled in decent numbers for a Friday night. If I didn't love HIMYM, I probably wouldn't stick around on Mondays either.

When I can find it, I'll post info on what would've happened on "Moonlight" and any other cancelled shows ("Jericho" for one) that I can find info on. If there's a particular show you want info about- post it in the comments and I'll see what I can do.

Yep, It's Official, CBS Sucks

As many of you know, CBS cancelled "Jericho" but agreed to bring it back after fans sent in 40000 (that's right forty-thousand) pounds of nuts, inspired by Jake Green's response to the New Bern leader about their surrender in the season finale. Well, CBS listened and brought back the show for 7 whole episodes. There was a lot of confusion over its start date and the time- I swear I saw three different dates and times. And when it finally comes back, they banish it to 10 pm on Tuesday nights. Had it not been for random flipping on Saturday night, when they re-ran the season premiere, I would have missed it all together. Not that there's anything else on at that time worth watching, but seriously- it couldn't have been on at like Sunday at 9? I don't know about the rest of you, but I have kids to get up in the AM and by 10, I'm just plain tired. So I DVR the show. But that doesn't count in the ratings game.

So, apparently we've got no one to blame but ourselves. We should've pushed ourselves to stay up past our bedtimes. Nevermind that it was apparently a huge download on bittorrent and Itunes. Nevermind that CBS put it in a sucky time spot when there were dozens of other spots it could've gone in because of the strike.

So whatever CBS. If you even think about cancelling "How I Met Your Mother" I will wash my hands of you. I don't need to watch "Survivor" (in fact, I'm really kind of over and have been for several seasons, but the hubby likes it).

An Update on "Angel" and What Would Have Happened....

It's been a while since I posted a "What Would Have Happened" so here's what I learn about what would've gone down on Angel Season 6 had there been one.

First, Wesley wouldn't have died, and the gang would've continued its evil fighting. There was talk of an episode that would've had Angel and Spike in drag, but most important, apparently Fred's soul was not destroyed as thought, and in an episode that would've featured Willow's character, she would have restored Fred's soul. Both Fred and Illyria would have been in the same body, which would have made for a really interested storyline with Wesley.

So, there you have it. This can be found in some of the interviews and commentary on the Angel DVDs.

THE STRIKE IS....

And here's what's coming back with more episodes:

"Lost" will go on a break after the March 13th episode and return April 24th (with what would've been the final 8th episode, but now is the start of the end of the season- though I don't know if we'll get another full 8 epis or not). HOWEVER, Lost will be moving to 10PM when Grey's Anatomy returns (does anyone really still watch that show? even the die-hards fans I know have been giving up on it). Come on ABC....really? 10PM? PUT IT BACK ON WEDNESDAYS. Hell, any day of the week would be good at 9.

"Moonlight" returns April 11th with four new episodes. Sweet.

"Lost"- Revisited

Spoilers below: Ye have been warned.

Despite the fact there are many answers we don't have, I find myself not really caring in light of some of the new mysteries we've been given in last night's episode, "Confirmed Dead". So, we now know that the new characters (whose introductions I really enjoyed, compared to the Nikki and Paolo fiasco- though they went out with a bang) are on the island for Ben. And they most definitely know about Dharma and the "lawyer" from Oceanic that visited Hurley in the institution last week is NOT working with Oceanic and is at least part of the mastermind behind the new group sent to the island.

So new questions- why do they want Ben (my guess is someone found out and is not too happy about the 40 people he killed a few years back...my thoughts? There must be Dharma members on the outside who know that there's been no communication with the island, and they've been searching for it)? And why is Miles so particularly angry?

-how the hell did a Dharma polar bear end up in the middle of a desert in Tunisia, and with a Hydra station collar?

-do you really think Dan didn't know why he was crying about Oceanic 815?

-Ben looked like he was telling the truth when he said he didn't know what the smoke monster was...but do you think he was?

-Will Miles be able to sense or see Jacob?

-Why doesn't Ben just keep his mouth shut? Do you think he secretly feels a need to be punished for his past crimes, or has a death wish? I mean, does he really think that his snarky comments won't get him beat up?

-On rewatching the premiere, "Jacob" was indeed wearing white tennis shoes, and was obviously in the form of Jack's father- but why? He could've appeared to be anyone to Hurley, as he wouldn't know Jack's father, so why that particular form? And who's eye was that? I don't think it was Locke, the face wasn't right. But it did kind of look like Mikhail (even though he's supposedly dead).

And, not really related to last night's episode, but kind of- I had the craziest "Lost" dream last night, in which nearly all of the survivors, with the exception of Kate, Sawyer and a couple of others were dead in the "war" (mentioned in the voiceover for next week's episode), and the bodies had all been put into a Dharma station that they were getting ready to explode so as to bury the bodies in a mass grave. Then I woke up feeling like I hadn't watched last night's episode yet and had to remind myself several times that I hadn't missed an episode, LOL.

Strike Update

It's hard to sort through all the double-talk that goes on surrounding the strike and the media black-out, but here's what it sounds like to me. The studios and writers have come to a verbal agreement, but nothing is on paper yet. The official contract should be forthcoming in the next few days/week at which point it could still be rejected. If it's not, though, and the strike is called to an end in the next week or two, some shows, particularly sitcoms and a few dramas (no, I don't know which ones) may be able to salvage some of the remainder of the TV season.

So there's hope- keep your fingers crossed that things will end quickly and maybe we'll be able to get a couple more episodes of "Lost".

Lost Season 4 Spoilers

Oooooh, I so can't wait for this season to start- it just sucks we're only getting 8 episodes.

But nonetheless, here's some scoopage- it does contain spoilers so read at your own risk!!!

Check out http://www.find815.com/ and play the online game featuring a former Oceanic Air employee who's desperately searching for answers about what happened to the plane (his almost fiancee was a flight attendant on the plane). It's pretty cool- though maybe not working quite right- I made it pretty far through the first round, refreshed the screen because I thought I was missing something and lost nearly all of my progress (and I had registered too!).

Being at the "beginning of the end" means we're actually smack in the middle of the story. All the happily (n)ever afters for our Losties are not going to be revealed in this here second act of the story, so y'all just simmer down now! There's still plenty at stake."

So, if Time Travel really is involved (a la Desmond's flashes) then maybe Desmond is the key to saving them all. Or, perhaps Jack will figure out that the flashes they have been getting aren't just memories but forays into the past/future where he'll be able to changes things.

What the...seriously? The 4400 cancelled?

Seriously, this week sucks. TV sucks. First "Journeyman", which has been freakin' awesome the past few weeks (which has not officially been cancelled, but I have NO HOPE when it comes to the networks these days), but now Watch With Kristin is reporting that "The 4400" and "The Dead Zone" have been cancelled. What the hell????

I really do support the writer's strike- but I can't help feeling that they're starting to burn their own asses. Are all of these shows being cancelled because it's the AMPTP's subtle way of controlling the situation and hoping that it'll scare the writer's into settling? It seems a lot of these shows would've been given more of a cancel were they able to continue airing (esp. "Bionic Woman" which will probably be not coming back either).

So, I put this out there to all TV viewers, like me. DO NOT WATCH REALITY TV. No "Clash of the Craptastic Choirs" no "D-List Celebrity Apprentice". Just don't watch it. Eventually, the networks will have to start pushing the AMPTP to make a real deal, because if we don't watch, the advertisers will pull their ads, and they'll start losing money. Serious money. It's the only way they'll talk.

Afterworld

I've noticed some incoming searches wondering if "Afterworld" is cancelled. If youtube and myspace aren't airing new episodes daily, go to www.budtv.com. There you can watch up through episode 92 and they do indeed show a new episode every day (part of their deal with Budweiser). There are only 130 episodes slated- not 500 as some have reported. The 130 episodes were going to be broken into 3 seasons, and are on myspace and youtube, but there is no separation or lag between episodes on budtv.

So, obviously Russ makes it home (he's the narrator from 3 years in the future), but is his family going to be there? Is the Walker going to become the new world order that Russ has been hoping for- the group that embraces the new world and is grateful for the second chance?

Weigh in with your opinion/theories!

TV News: Heroes, Chuck, Strike News

I'm sooo nervous about next week's "Heroes". WWK (Watch With Kristin on eonline.com) reports that one death is final, one is uncertain and one will be coming back- but says that if the uncertain death sticks, fans will have a cow. My guess, either Peter or Hiro would be the two that fans (including me) will freak out about. And, nope, HRG's "death" is not one of these three.

But, a small rant...seriously, does Peter not realize Adam's evilness? I know he believes that everyone is good, but COME ON. Dude, wise up. We are talking about Sark after all...

And I'm super psyched to report that "Chuck" has received a full season pick up (!) but that "Bionic Woman" and "Journeyman" are in serious trouble. I'd like to see both of these shows get a shot- especially "Journeyman" because I feel it's a really great show. I love when everyday people get thrown in these fantastical situations. "Bionic Woman" needs help- more focus, more "mythological" type story line. Apparently character Sara Corvis is gone as the actress has quit the show (not a lot of love goin' on between her and Michelle Ryan).

And, on a happy front, the WGA has gone back into negotiations with the AMPTP and according to one insider, the deal is nearly done. Some feel the strike was forced by the AMPTP because the initial offer was laughable at best, but really, what good has it done, other than to make the AMPTP look like a bunch of jerks. So, keep your fingers crossed, and maybe we'll get our new shows in the spring after all.

Hayden's Arrest Warrant

The Japanese government has issued an arrent warrant for Hayden Panettiere of "Heroes" for interferring with fisherman who had captured a pod of dolphins in their nets. Hayden and several friends tried to get the fisherman to free the dolphins in a situation that apparently became quite dangerous. Eventually they had to give up and the dolphins were slaughtered.

Perhaps I'm overtired, but this story makes me cry. Dolphins are probably one of the most amazing creatures on Earth. Just recently there was a story about a surfer whose life was saved by dolphins when a pod surrounded him in the ocean after he was severely attacked by a shark. Why'd they do it? We'll never know- but there's probably not another wild animal that would have done the same thing.

So poo on the Japanese government and a big YAY!!! to Hayden and her friends who tried to do something right. Just don't go back to Japan anytime soon.

A Great Night For TV

OMG- "How I Met Your Mother" was in top form last night- rivaling in laughs the episode of "riends" "The One With All the Secrets" (which, may or may not have been the title of that episode, but the one I've come up with describes it pretty well). For those "Friends" fans- you'll remember that episode of where all of the characters revealed a dark secret about one another. I had never laughed so hard during an episode of any TV show until last night. HIMYM was absolutely stinkin' hysterical with each character revealing to another someone else's worst habits after the gang reveals to Ted that his newest girl talks incessantly- never letting anyone get a word in edgewise. It was as good an episode as the original "Slap Bet" episode.

"The Big Bang Theory" also had a good showing last night- admittedly, I didn't really care for the show when it first started, I was still smarting over the cancellation of "The Class" which had gotten REALLY funny (especially the whole diet=adultery episode). But it's definitely finding its way.

"Heroes" had a great episode last night with the promise of an exciting episode coming next week. Anybody else wondering if Peter's "escape" with Adam wasn't planned all along by the company? And just how is Adam going to save the world...what exactly is his plan? UGH!!! I just want to know, and sadly, I don't think that we're going to find out this year should the strike continue. Coming up next: a beach showdown with HRG, Claire, Elle, Bob, Mohinder and (I think) West. Could be it that even though we assumed that HRG was the dead guy in Isaac's painting- but could it be Bob? He does wear glasses, and it certainly didn't look good for him in last night's preview. HOWEVER- and this is a pretty big HOLY CRAP picture, so look only if you dare.

"Journeyman" keeps getting better and better. I really hope this show sticks around. Last night, Dan's past started to catch up with him in many ways, and we learned when Livia actually comes from. Also, things don't look good for Dan's future in terms of travelling- Livia warns him that the jumps will likely become longer and longer, and we learn now that there's a possibility that he could jump somewhere and never return to his own time (though Livia never broached the possibility that her last jump that kept her in the late 80s was really an extended jump because of Dan- after all, she had to become a "real" person in order for them to meet, fall in love and become someone that he would trust when he started his own travelling). Sadly, I'm unable to find any spoilers about upcoming episodes.

"Entertainment Tonight"- a vent

So, I don't know if the strike is affecting this show or not...but holy crap- it's terrible! Not that ET was ever the height of "news" shows (it particularly got on my bad side after the whole year of "Anna Nicole Exclusives"), but I swear, they used to have cool entertainment stories. Spoilers, upcoming movie news...but now, it's about how Donny Osmond picked the suit for his father's funeral and whether this will hurt Marie's chances of winning "Dancing With the Stars". WTF ?!? I can't stand it. I mean...is this the best we can do for entertainment news? Is it only going to go downhill from here if TV continues to be shut down?

Oh- and if you're in support of the writer's plight- sign the online petition. As of today, it's over 44,000 (which is 9,000 more than yesterday!).

What the heck is gonna happen on "Heroes?"

Many viewers of "Heroes" have complained that the series is in the dreaded "sophomore slump". Personally, I think they just have a lot of story to tell, and it takes a while to get there. Consider it like a novel- you have to get through the first few chapters in order to get to the action-y good stuff.

So what's going to happen on upcoming episodes? Monday, 11/12, we'll see what happened right after Nathan flew off with Peter. Nathan was severely burned, and somehow miraculously cured (there is the storyline that tells us Claire's blood may hold the key to stopping the new strain of the hero-killer virus, so maybe that's what helped Nathan). It's also rumored that this new "cure" may be able to help some dead heroes too...It's possible that DL survived the shooting, but actually died inadvertently because of something Nikki did. We'll also see how Peter came to know Adam and Electric Elle, and how Adam has convinced him that they need to do something to save the world (which, knowing that Sark- uh Kensei- has had 400 years to stew over losing his princess to Hiro, it's probably going to be something that will, say, kill off 93% of the world's population).

Should the strike not reach a resolution soon, the 11th episode could possibly serve as a season finale. An alternate ending has been shot just in case.

There are also reports that two heroes will die, and one will come out of the closet, so to speak. Someone who previously has shown no powers now will be.

The Coolest Thing You Probably Aren't Watching on the Internet

"My name is Russell Schumacher. I sold technology to the world back when there was technology...and people to sell it to."

And so starts the internet show "Afterworld" which can be seen on Youtube, Myspace and Budtv.com. The latter the best- you can see up to episode 70, which new episodes released every business day.

The premise is fairly simple, in the beginning anyway. Russell leaves his wife and daughter in Seattle and travels to New York City for a business trip. When he awakens the next morning, he discovers there is no electricity and very few people. Clearly something strange and horrific has happened, but no one knows what.

If you are over 21, I recommend signing up at www.budtv.com. The episodes run anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 minutes- easy to watch on a lunch break or when you need a little time out. And it's addictive and creepy- you can't ask for much more (other than longer episodes).

Well, nothing's happened that's terribly exciting other than more and more shows shutting down, actors walking offset (Steve Carrell wouldn't cross the pickett lines because he's a WGA member and so no more "Office" being shot)...it's not good for anybody.

In an interview with Damon Lindenhof over at eonline.com (Watch With Kristin), Lindenhof told Kristin Veitch that they've got 8 episodes filmed, and the eighth episode ends with as much conclusion as the episode where Michael shot Ana Lucia and Libby- in other words, a major "Holy $&$# WTF did I just see??!?" moment. A cliffhanger that might not be resolved until the following season.

Uh...great. Come studio execs give the writers some more GD money so we can get back to our programming!

What does the strike mean to us??

I've been extrememly, terribly bad at updating this blog because of endeavors elsewhere, but feel the need to comment about the writer's strike. As of today, "The Office", "Desperate Housewives", "The Big Bang Theory" and several other shows have halted production. Late night TV shows are already in re-runs. Many series, like "Dirty Sexy Money" only have about 11 episodes- meaning we'll get new shows until early December, and then THAT'S IT!! We'll be bombarded by reality TV. Freakin' great.

So what are they striking about? Writers get NO money from reairing of the shows they've written that re-air the web, no credits, and the same goes for DVD sales. They get nothing! I can't imagine what it must be like to write something like "Transformers" and have it do the gangbuster DVD sales that it did (8 million in it's first week) and NOT get a single dime from it. I mean, couldn't you give them even a single percentage of the sales? Because you wouldn't've had anything without the writers, and now you (the studio execs) will lose advertising revenue and possibly the respect of the american public. Yeah, I'm ticked that they're on strike, but I'm not ticked at the writers. I'm angry that the studios are refusing to even discuss it. I'm angry that because of the strike, it's not the actors and writer's who will suffer (at least not right away), it's the guys who do the lighting, the assistants, staffers and everyone else who works behind the scenes to bring our favorite shows to life who will suffer. If it continues too long, it could start affecting our local economy when our local affliates start losing ad revenue and may have to make station cutbacks. They're the people who have families and mortgages and probably no where near the cushion of money that the higher ups do to be able to ride out the strike.

So, support the writers and get angry with the execs. Maybe if they realize we, the television viewers, are behind the writers, they'll start talking.

JERICHO GETS SAVED! & more good news

The fans have done it. It's not often that a fan campaign has luck reviving a cancelled show, but CBS has given the greenlight to at least 7 new episodes of Jericho, will release the series on DVD before the end of the summer, and will continue to offer goodies on the web. Rock on CBS! +500 for actually listening!!!

"The 4400" returns this month (June 17th, 9 pm), and "Eureka" will return to sci-fi in July. Also returning is "The Dead Zone" which promises a big shake-up in Johnny's world.

"The Black Donnelly's" gets a minor reprieve, as all episodes will air (including 7 that didn't on NBC) on HDnet starting June 13th at 8 p.m.

"Battlestar Galactica" will only have one more season. This maybe a show I'll need to go back and watch. Everytime I catch an episode, I'm always sucked in, and I have no fraking idea of what's going on. Plus, a show that created its own f-word has got to be pretty decent.

"Heroes" star Adrian Pasdar makes it sound as though he'll be returning for next season, but someone who was left in jeopardy will not be returning as a series regular because apparently someone else on the show felt his/her thunder was being stolen. Uh- what? If it's Greg Grunberg, I'm gonna be ticked. Greg seems like such an awesome person!

CBS Announces Schedule- UGH

Ok, so 1 point to CBS for saving possibly the funniest show on television- "How I Met Your Mother."

-20 Points for cancelling "The Class". This show started off weak. Way weak. But it turned into one of the funniest shows I've seen in a LONG time. The whole diet=cheating episode? Hysterical. What a bunch of dumbA$$es at CBS.

-50 Points for cancelling "Jericho". Admittedly not the best acted show on television at times, Jericho really came back strong after its hiatus (which, was another really DUMB idea by CBS). The great thing about "Jericho" was that it was different and imaginative. Rumor has it that TNT is eyeing the show. Sign the petition over at www.onlinepetition.com and help save this show.

Show, CBS ends up in the negative for the fall season. I don't even care what's going to be new- The only thing I'll be watching CBS for is HIMYM.

Fall Previews: NBC and ABC

There are some really awesome sounding shows coming up this fall on NBC and ABC (CBS has yet to announce their fall schedule and if "How I Met Your Mother" isn't on it...heads will roll, my friend).

Most interesing sounding:
"Pushing Daisies" (ABC) As a young boy, Ned discovers he has the power to bring back the dead when his mother dies while making a pie and his touch revives her. She lives until that evening when she kisses him goodnight and dies again. Ned grows up to become a pie maker, and has a side detective business where he uses his gift to revive the dead to find out their murderers and then touches them again to die. Only problem...one of the "dead" is his childhood sweetheart and he can't bring himself to "kill" her again. Eventually she learns his secret and things become very complicated.

"Sam I Am" (ABC) Christina Applegate stars as a woman who suffers amnesia after an accident and finds out what a horrible person she was. She consequently spends her time trying to right her wrongs and become a better person.

NBC Cool Sounding shows:

"Journeyman"- Though it sounds suspiciously like "The Time Traveller's Wife"- a book that I absolutely love- it looks like a really good show. It centers around a reporter, Dan, who jumps back and forth through time without knowing when or where he's going, or even sometimes that he's jumped through time. Can he prevent past tragedies? What will that mean for his present? Watch the preview:

TV News: Spoilers, Heroes, Lost

For those who haven't seen it- last's night's episode of "Heroes" was rockin'. Don't read any further if you haven't watched (!!), but as of right now, it doesn't look good for DL, who's been shot by Linderman (who, it seems is no longer of this world...but who knows for sure). Niki was able to gain control of herself (though it did seem as well that Jessica "stepped down") and Sylar gained control of Ted's powers in his typical brain eating way. All the heroes are now in NYC- though suspiciously missing is the tech girl- who can hear any forms of electronic communication. And how cool is Hiro's Dad??? And, is Hiro the "hero" from the story he used to read by his father? Is that Hiro's true destiny?

Judging by next week's promo, things look better for DL, but not so good for Matt Parkman, and according to eonline's "Watch With Kristin" the season will end with four character's lives in peril. Kristin did report that Nathan, Claire, Peter and Niki will be back. She also reported that Leonard Roberts, who plays DL, was at the "NBC upfront" which is all about next season. I really hope Matt survives- I love Greg Grunberg both as an actor and person (I mean- who doesn't love a guy who makes Smoothaise!)

And, as a little side note, "Watch With Kristin" also reported that Sawyer does survive to see another season on "Lost." And so does the dog.

Lost Gets an END DATE

It's official, according to Kristin@ Eonline.com. ABC released a statement saying that "Lost" has officially 48 episodes left and will air in 3 16 episode seasons (due to some international deal). Apparently, after seeing the season finale (which is a game changer a la "Alias" style**) we will know why there can only be 48 more episodes.

So what's your theory about why? I think it's that all the little online games, clues and stories have all been talking about the end of the world and how the Dharma Initiative was supposed to be working to stop it- this supposedly has something to do with the numbers. So, if there's an "end of days" date- it would limit how many episodes they can do especially if the world were to end in say 48 days or less from the end of the season.

** "Alias" game changing episode= Francie is killed, Sydney disappears and wakes up in Hong Kong where she quickly discovers that two years have passed and she was believed dead.

**On a good note- "Lost" will be moving to an earlier hour! YAY!!!

Well, let me tell ya. Ye be warned...spoilers ahead!

So, after much scouring, here's what I've uncovered.

There's going to be a war. Others vs. Losties. It's not going to be pretty, and someone shocking will die. It better not be Jack or Sawyer, Hurley or Kate. After that...not sure I care too much. Or, it might be better to say that I'd miss all the others just as equally.

Jack and Claire may discover they are siblings according to an interview with Emily De Ravin.

Sawyer's letter will be seen again (significance of this, unknown).

We will learn who the father is of Sun's baby. Sun will allow Juliet to examine her after learning about the fate of the other pregnant women on the island.

We will see Penny and Desmond again, and apparently their relationship is fairly significant to the show (after all, had he stayed with Penny, who knows what would've happened. Most likely the plane wouldn't have crashed, Ben might be dead...what an interesting episode THAT would be!)

What the....Lost??? Holy Sand Batman!

Ok, so I could've cared less about Nicki and Paolo. Until last night anyway. I don't know if this was there intended storyline all along, but man, I found it to be one of the more interesting episodes of the season in terms of backstory. Now, obviously, "they's bad people" but to be buried alive? I know they're murderers, but I thought that was a cruel way to go (though neither seemed at all remorseful about what they'd done, so maybe they got their just 'deserts'- yes, pun/misspelling intended). It was one of those "What the..." moments and which was followed by a "Holy S$^&!"

But, as Locke pointed out, things don't stay buried on the island. Was this a little foreshadowing (a la Artz with the spiders)? Will one of them dig their way out? Unlikely, but man, would they've have some 'splainin' to do to the rest of the Lostaways.

1/08: When we first wrote this post over a year ago, it was a rumor. Sadly for OC fans, it's no longer rumor, it's true. The last first-run episode will air 2/22/08- but it seems the CW might be interested in picking up the show.

FROM 12/06: Not according to Watch With Kristin over at eonline.com. Seems it was a rumor (ala the "Will Ferrell is dead" type rumor...which no, he isn't). But there is some question as to whether they will have a 16 or 22 episode season.

ALF

Going way back into the 80s vault of cancelled shows, we've pulled out ALF. ALF, short for Alien Life Form, was really a strange, advarkian type of creature named Gordon Shumway (from the planet Melmac) who crash landed into a family's garage (The Tanners) and, because he was stranded, ended up living there while trying to fix his spaceship. The show was pretty funny (particularly when Alf tried to repeated eat the family cat) but it did end with a cliffhanger. Alf was always hiding out from the government, who knew an alien hand landed but were never clever enough to catch him. In the final episode of the series, Alf had been discovered and took off on the run, trying to evade the government he was sure would do all sorts of experiments on him. Writers had hoped the cliffhanger would encourage NBC to pick it up for another season, or at least allow them to do a movie explaining how Alf escaped, but neither worked. At least, not right away. In the early 90s, "Project Alf" aired, a 2-hour tv movie that explained what happened to Alf after he was captured, but had no Tanner family (only mentioned in passing that they had been relocated to Iceland) and really lacked the heart of the show (it was downright horrible in my opinion). Like many fans, I find it best not to think about it, and just figure Alf was smart enough to escape and find a ride home.

You may also remember the short lived cartoon which featured Alf and his buddies on Planet Melmac, which was a prequel to his crashing landing on Earth.

Reunion

Reunion was a murder mystery show that never quite killed in the ratings. It centered around six high-school friends, one of whom is murdered at their 20th reunion, and one of them is the murderer. The story flashed back and forth to the present while the detective investigating the murder and the connections between the classmates. “Okay, here’s a little insider scoop,” Dave [Annable-"Aaron Lewis"] says, “and I don’t know if this is real or not, but this is what I was told! It was Will and Sam’s daughter [who was the killer]. And then what happens is, you know, Craig—Sean Faris—comes home and finds her shot, and it was by accident, and then he calls his dad, the big congressman or whatever he was, to come clean it up. The law firm of simmons, jannace & stagg recently represented a woman whose lawyer was suing in a federal court to get a $2 million contingency fee after settling a woman's 9/11 lawsuit (the money had been awarded from the Victim's Fund which disfavored lawyer's fees to maximize the amount of money the victim's would get). Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill was a really cute show where Jack (aka Jacqueline, played by Amanda Peet) and Jill (David Jillefsky, played by Ivan Sergei--recently on "Charmed") had a meet-cute (she discovers her fiance slept with a bridesmaid on the day of the wedding--moves in with friend--he's the hunky neighbor--nuff said), resisted getting together and yet finally did. It lasted for two season, also starred Jamie Pressly (now on "My Name is Earl", Simon Rex and Justin Kirk ("Weeds"--I knew I knew him from somewhere!).
Like most shows where it is based somewhat on sexual tension between two characters, it struggled a bit after Jack and Jill became a couple, but it was still pretty good. It was cancelled at the end of its second season (which was only 13 episodes, and aired mid-season). Here's what happened for those who can't quite remember, courtesy of www.tv.com:

Jack and Jill scramble to keep their wedding on track after the hurricane destroys their Bahamas plan, but the couple is in a bad place, something that is especially concerning Jill. Jack talks things over with Jill's mom, and Jill talks things over with Elisa. Eventually, Jill asks Jack to forget the long-term wedding arrangements, and to just get married the next day at the Justice of the Peace.

Meanwhile, Mikey and Elisa plan a party for their 'unattached' single friends, but they are shocked to learn just how depleted that group of friends has become, as most of their friends are now paired up! And Jack & Jill's sudden wedding plans force them to change the party into a wedding party anyway.

An overheard comment from Barto about how Audrey should face her fears vis-a-vis her stalker incident prompts Audrey to move back to her place. But after Elisa stays over at her apartment the first night, Barto feels so guilty that he goes over to stay with Audrey until she feels safe again.

They guys help Jill and the girls help Jack, and they all (plus Barto's date Emily) head down to City Hall. But the cattle call at City Hall is decidedly unromantic, so Jill calls it off. The results if that Mikey & Elisa's party is a total dud, and the two get hammered, and start to reveal some repressed feelings for each other. The next day, neither remembers what happened the night before, but circumstantial evidence implies that Mikey's and Elisa's repressed feelings for each other may have been consummated.

The day after the aborted wedding, Jack goes to the doctor to treat her cold and discovers that she is pregnant! That night, Audrey reveals that she still has feelings for Barto and that she wants to try again. Barto protests that he's with Emily, but Audrey just asks him to think about it. Finally, Jack comes home after visiting the doctor. Jill sits her down and says what he's been trying to say all along: that he's worried that their relationship has moved to fast, and that it needs a stronger foundation before marriage, so he wants to call the wedding (but not their relationship) off. Jack meekly agrees, but neglects to tell him about her pregnancy...

So what would have happened? Obviously the pregnancy would not have remained a secret for much longer, but other than that I have NO idea. While there are a lot of websites that mention "Jack and Jill", that's all they do, just mention it. There seems to be little interest in the show, or what might have happened, and certainly did not garner the outrage like "Everwood" did (incidently both shows were written by Rita Mimoun!).

Reaching waaaay back and pulling out..."Homefront"

I won't lie...I have always been fascinated by the 1940s. Despite the war, it has always seemed (and made to be seen) as one of America's most romantic periods in history. So it was no surprise to me that I became completely hooked on "Homefront" which first aired on ABC in 1991. It centered around three families, and a few others that interacted with them. There was the Sloans, the wealthy family who seemed to own everything in town, but most notably the factory which employed nearly everyone. Their son, Michael, is killed in the war and they are none to thrilled when an Italian-Jewish woman shows up and declares herself Michael's wife (pregnant nonetheless).

There is also the Metcalfs, who were really the center of the show. Anne was the widowed mother, her eldest Hank had just returned from the war, her daughter Linda was able to work in the Sloans' factory while the men were away, and her youngest son Jeff wanted to be a ballplayer but was sidelined with an injury.

The third family was the Davises, the african-americans who were employed in domesticity by the Sloans.

All of the families interacted on a regular basis, and the show never ran short of drama. While Jeff and his former brother's girlfriend, Ginger were the couple everyone routed for, I was always intrigued by Anne Metcalf's story line. She fell for union reveler Al, who was Jewish, and ended up pregnant.

Despite having great actors and story lines, it never had enough ratings to keep it going. So, while the show had an "ending" (the producers knew that most likely there wouldn't be a continuation, they did hold out a little hope and left somethings unresolved) there is some speculation as to what would have happened for season 3.

"If ABC renews Homefront, the series will include Cleveland's 1948 World Series victory" (John Kiesewetter "Homefront Role Easy for Chandler to Play" Cincinnati Enquirer Mar. 29, 1993).

"If ABC had granted Homefront a third season, [Tammy] Lauren ("Ginger") said, the plot would have found the wealthy Sloan family buying the town's television station, with Jeff and Ginger becoming TV stars in the vein of George Burns and Gracie Allen" (Rob Owen "Tammy Lauren Plays an Innocent...Again" Times-Dispatch July 31, 1993).

Sam Behrens (Phil Havel) told Soap Opera Digest that "he was very disappointed about Homefront not being picked up because he had been signed on as a regular cast member for the third season" and that he "had a great storyline" (Melinda Salsburey Homefront egroup Aug. 28, 2000).

"During a Prodigy chat after the end of the second season, the creators said that they were going to have Caroline's [first] husband from England come to River Run (apparently she was a bigamist)" (Alen Homefront egroup Apr. 10, 1999).

According to Lynn Marie Latham, "If there had been a third season, Anne and Al would never have left in the first place. But Hank would not have come back no matter what" (Homefront egroup Apr. 19, 2003).

Would Caroline turn out not to have divorced Charlie after all?: "Did we ever see Caroline's divorce decree? I don't think so. I think we just saw her en route to Reno. Did anybody else in town know about the 2-year rule? Maybe not. Maybe - just maybe - Caroline knew her first husband was alive and she was bigamously married to Charlie, so she didn't have to get divorced. She just had to pretend she had and if anybody from the I.N.S. showed up at her doorstep, she was still 'legally' married to Charlie" (Bethany Rutledge Homefront egroup Mar. 31, 2003).

Dark Angel returns...in re-runs anyway

Dark Angel has recently started to run again on the SCI-FI channel, Monday nights from 8:00 pm to 12 am.

I was able to watch the majority of the 2nd season when it aired on SiTV a few months ago, and was surprised at how little I remembered from Season 2, which makes me think I didn't watch it for some reason (mostly likely it aired against another, more important show and I continually forgot to tape it). It's quite a bit different from Season 1, and explores much more of the show's mythology. It definitely would have been nice to have another season to watch.

Even More About Everwood...the show fans refuse to let die!

Alas, poor Everwood, I knew it well.

Everwood is gone, and I think nothing short of a miracle will bring it back. Sets are down, the actors are moving on, but the fans just won't let go. I do understand...I can't bear to erase it from my DVR! The ending was beautiful, and it really was hard to say goodbye.
So what have the fans been doing? Short of begging at Dawn Ostroff's feet (the new CW CEO or whatever her title is), they have gotten a Ferris Wheel and are having it delivered. Here is a snippet about it from www.everwoodmusic.com:

In the series finale of Everwood, Amy Abbott placed a Ferris wheel outside of Ephram Brown's apartment to express her love and affection for him. Everwood fans reflect a similar love and appreciation for the show and everyone that made it ring true. Deeply saddened by the premature end of the series, they have decided to do something. What started out as murmors in the internet community quickly became something bigger, much bigger. At that point Everwood Music founded Project: Save Everwood to organize those efforts under one banner.

On Monday, June 19th, an ad ran in Variety -- made possible solely through generous donations of Everwood fans -- thanking and congratulating the cast and crew and inviting them to a grand gesture. Dead Like Me --Finds a New Life on Sci-Fi

"Dead Like Me" was an AWESOME show that originally aired on the Showtime network. It ran for two years and starred Mandy Patinkin, Jasmine Guy and Ellen Muth. Ellen Muth played Georgia Lass ("George"), who was killed by a falling satellite not long after turning 18. She was returned to life to be a "reaper", someone who would take the soul of a person who was just about to die and help them cross over. Ellen was today's typical teenager--snarky, funny, occasionally lazy with a questionable work ethic, but with a good heart. For reasons known only to Showtime (budget issues I'm sure), DLM was cancelled after only two seasons. A real shame because DLM had a great emsemble cast, and there was real growth in all of the characters, and the writing was smart and sharp. But at least we weren't left with a cliffhanger ending as so many of the other shows on this blog have.

While I have been unable to discover what would have been for season 3 (though I'm still searching), I do know that the show has just started running again on the Sci-Fi network on Tuesday nights (I believe the premiere was 7/18).

"Tru Calling"

While I never quite got into "Tru Calling", I was intrigued by the premise (and possibly I stopped watching because it conflicted with another show). Tru Davies, played by Eliza Dushku of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame, was a young woman who discovered that she had the ability to jump back in time 24 hours, and affect the lives of someone who was in trouble (and most likely ended up dead). While the premise certainly drew on other shows ("Quantum Leap", the aforementioned "Nightmare Cafe", "Sliders") it was unique it its own way, and fans certainly weren't happy when the series was given the axe.

I was able to find the following information on what would have happened should been given a third season:

There are two great Powers in the universe concerned with humanity's fate; one that laid out the original plan that history has been following since the beginning of time, and one that wants to change that plan (what ultimate goal either side is working toward remains unknown, possibly even to the show's creators). The first power is more strict and authoritarian in its view of humanity, whereas the second is "more accepting of individual freedom and choice."
Whenever someone dies who may be important to the overall scheme of things (and, presumably, in a way that would serve the second power's purposes), an agent of that power approaches the person and offers them a choice- they can either move on, or return and have a shot at resuming their old life. If they want a second chance, all they have to do is ask for it. If they do, Davies goes back and relives the day, with a view to saving that person's life.
Every time Davies saves someone who has asked for her help, she steers the destiny of our world a little farther away from what the first power intended, and a little closer to what the agents of the second power want.
Harper, Davies' nemesis, has a very big advantage over her, her father was his mentor(who was Harper's predecessor, just as Davies' mother was hers). Davies is working in the dark, learning as she goes along, but Harper has an older, more experienced counterpart who can share knowledge and wisdom from a long line of predecessors with his young protege. Davies, of course, was robbed of this potentially crucial advantage because of her mother's untimely death.
Harper became Davies' counterpart after being approached by agents of the first power during his near-death experience. They offered him a choice: he could either die, or return to Earth to do their bidding. Once he got back, his memories of the encounter were hazy, and he didn't initially understand what was happening when his days started rewinding (at around the time that Davies' did). He eventually wound up in an asylum, which is where Davies' father found him.
The central conflict of the show's mythology was never meant to be perceived as a simple, straightforward "good versus evil" scenario. Rather, the creators intended to portray the battle in such a way that either side could conceivably be right- and, at the very least, to show that the soldiers on both sides certainly believe that what they're doing is right. Harper and Davies' father truly believe that she is disrupting the balance of the universe by doing what she does; Davies, of course, believes otherwise. Who would have turned out to be right? These are the questions the producers of the show meant for us to ponder.
A future storyline on the show would have dealt with the possible repercussions if Harper ever decided that he no longer wanted to fulfill his end of the bargain (i.e., to continue doing the first power's bidding).
Another storyline (which was actually in progress when the show ended) would have dealt with the consequences of Davies' saving someone who hadn't asked for her help. Because that person was either never given the choice to come back, or was and chose not to take it, he would have essentially lost his soul after being saved by Davies, and would then have begun spiralling into increasingly menacing behavior as his humanity faded away and his personality began to disintegrate.

"To whom it may concern. If you're reading this document, it means I'm either dead - or disappeared under mysterious circumstances. My name is Marshall Teller. Not long ago I was living in New Jersey just across the river from New York City. It was crowded, polluted, and full of crime. I loved it. But my parents wanted a better life for my sister and me - so we moved to a place so wholesome, so squeaky clean, you could only find it on TV. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Sure, my new home town *looks* normal enough, but look again. What's wrong with this picture? The American dream come true, right? Wrong. Nobody believes me, but this is the center of weirdness for the entire planet. Eerie, Indiana. My home sweet home. Still don't believe me? You will."

Reaching again into the vault of my mind, I was reminded of this show that aired in 1991. It had almost a full season complement (19 episodes) before it was cancelled. "Eerie, Indiana" was told from the point of view of Marshall, who kept a diary of all the strange things that happened in Eerie (which, not so ironically, was supposed to be the most normal town in the US). Eerie was a place where Elvis was sited regularly, dogs could sometimes talk (and didn't they *ahem* have a bone to pick) and where people (mostly kids) would sometimes disappear and artificially intelligent ATMs made friends with a little boy and gave him lots of spending money. The show was great and inventive, "Twilight Zone" meets "X-Files" (though X-Files didn't premiere until 1993)...and is actually out on DVD!! While it is currently unknown what plans there were for a second season, I'm sure it would have dealt more with "old" Marshall and how he ended up being able to go into the past (or did he exist at the same time...) and more of the shows mythology.

I'm not sure what made me think of this show last night (though I can tell you it was late, and I was REALLY tired), but this show about a cafe floating in space, starring none other than Robert Englund (of Freddy Krueger fame), popped into my head. I couldn't remember the name, but a little IMDB.com research reminded me the name was "Nightmare Cafe." While only 6 episodes of this show ever aired back in 1992(!) apparently it left some sort of an impression on me.

"Nightmare Cafe" told the story of Frank and Fay, who after a mysterious brush with death, found themselves both at the Cafe, where they met Blackie, an enigmatic man who appeared to know much more than them about their current situation, but delighted in not sharing it. When Frank and Fay tried to leave...they either ended up right back in the cafe...or found themseles floating through space. In the premiere, each of them was given the chance to go back and change the fates that lead them to the Cafe in the first place. From then on, working together, they would help others who somehow, magically, stumbled into the Cafe.

The show was really neat, had a great premise, and died WAAAAYYYY before its time. Because there isn't a ton of information on what would have happened (this show was on TV before the internet became so popular) we did manage to dig up some interviews where actress Lindsey Frost ("Fay") alluded to the fact that perhaps she and Frank may have met in a previous life and that future episodes would have explored their connection.

Unfortunately, this show is not available on DVD, though it does occasionally air on the SCIFI channel.

More Everwood Scoopage

While fans are still pleading hard for another season of "Everwood", it looks like it is really and truly done. But, thanks to "Watch With Kristin" over at www.eonline.com, we did get a little bit more information as to what would have happened next season. Kristin asked Greg Berlanti if [Hannah and Bright] would have ended up together and lived happily ever after. " 'I think ultimately, yes, definitely,' Berlanti said. And here comes the shocker! (At least it was to me.) 'I can tell you that one of my sort-of plans for the year was that I was going to temporarily put Hannah and Ephram together," he revealed, 'and sort of twist everything up a bit. But I still would've brought the core couples back together in the end.'
"He talked about the alternate ending (in which Madison reappeared) and said: 'To be honest, those cliffhangers were more setups for next year. We would've had almost the same number of payoffs for sort of the life of the series. Because we would've been trying to sort of redefine the show next year, I think, in certain regards. It was sort of a pivotal moment. Had the show gone on, I think it would've started to focus more on Andy's relationship with Delia, and, of course, it's not so much a widower's journey anymore, because we would've done the wedding, and there would've been some other very rewarding storylines.'"

Yikes! Hannah and Ephram??!?!?!???! I think I'm almost happy to have seen the end if that were true (though I can imagine it would have been something like...well, maybe I have a crush on her/him, with some sort of an awkward kiss, and the realization that they are more like siblings).

Well...there ya have it, again...kind of.

"Joan of Arcadia" update

As I posted before, I had sent an e-mail to Barbara Hall's production company, hoping that they would be able to provide me with some information as to how the next season of "Joan" might have progressed. While I didn't receive the answer I was looking for, I did receive a nice response from Ms. Hall's assistant, Amy. While she didn't have any further information as to the direction "Joan" would have gone, she did tell me that Ms. Hall has not given up the idea of writing a book that would detail the rest of Joan's story.

So, perhaps fans of the show can send their support via e-mail (I won't post it here, but a little googling might find it) and hope that a resolution comes soon.

Heroes ...taking slight departure here

While I haven't seen anything but a four minute preview, this show looks AWESOME! And, as all awesome shows seemed to get cancelled before their time, I'd like to make sure this one gets a decent shot at staying around. So, I'm taking this opportunity to talk about the show, make sure you watch the clip on NBC and then watch this show so that it doesn't go the way of all the good shows listed below.

Heroes begins around a solar eclipse that changes people all over the world. Seemingly ordinary people suddenly begin to discover that they can do something extraordinary. A young man in Japan discovers he can stop time at will (and possibly teleport himself); a cheerleader discovers she is "unbreakable", a Vegas stripper learns her mirror image has a secret; a young man becomes to believe he can fly and a painter discovers he is painting scenes of the future. There are others as well...but I don't want to spoil it all here. It completely sounds like it could be hokey and cheesy, but watch the preview at NBC and see for yourself.

Everwood

Updated 6/8/06...Contains SPOILERS if you have not seen the series finale.

While it's not dead yet, especially if fans have their way, "Everwood" seems to be going the route of many a good show...cancellation. Admittedly, I didn't watch this show from the very beginning (I caught on later in the first season), but have definitely caught up over the past three years. This is such a terrific show, with great writing and characters you really care about.

While we will see an ending with some closure to the show (two endings were filmed just in case it was not renewed), there were indeed plans for the show's fifth season. According to "Watch With Kristin" at www.eonline.com, plans were made to have Sarah Lancaster's character, Madison, return to Everwood and surprising Ephram. That would have been interesting, given Ephram's realization that he still loves Amy (after all "She's his lobster")and Amy's finally coming around to realize that Ephram is who she is meant to be with. This show had a great ending (though I thought a flash forward might have been nice...maybe three years or so, to see Lily still with the Abbotts, Andy and Nina expecting, or toting a toddler, and Ephram and Amy getting married. I'm still on the fence about Hannah and Bright as he really did something unforgivable...but the growth in his character in their final scene together was perfect. Perhaps the flash forward would only have them getting together at the wedding, now that they've both grown up and have changed even more--yes I like happy endings!).

Even though Alias was given a proper send-off, there were still a few lingering questions that Kristin Veitch was kind enough to post in her weekly column on www.eonline.com (BTW a great source for scoops...just read her chats!).
These answers come from Jeff Pinkner, executive producer on the show:

Q: In the finale, did Irina say, "Rambaldi is alive," "Rambaldi is love" or Rambaldi "is life"?
A: "Rambaldi is life...Through him we can live forever."

Q: What was the horizon?
A: The horizon was the Rambaldi-designed glass sphere that activated the pedestal in his tomb and then received the liquid from the hovering red ball.

Q: Did Irina fall on the sphere? In the final shot, one hand was bent behind her back after she fell. Could she have squished the ball but then have been resurrected by it? It did take a while to work on Sloane.
A: No, the ball rolled away, presumably recovered by Syd, who would have had it destroyed.

Q: Given the actions of Nadia at the end of the show, was she truly just a figment of Sloane's imagination/conscience?
A: She was his conscience. I think killing Nadia--whom he deeply loved--caused some sort of emotional/psychotic rift for Sloane.

Q: Is Sloane going to live forever under a rock, or is he eventually going to die?
A: Sloane is immortal, living forever buried 200 feet beneath the earth.

So there ya have it. Hopefully Kristin will get some answers from JJ Abrams about the meaning of the highlighted letters throughout the 5 seasons and the meaning of the number 47.

His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home."

And so began each episode of the fantastic show "Quantum Leap." Sam (Scott Bakula) spent 5 seasons leaping around "from life to life" including his own, his friend Al's (Dean Stockwell) his great-great grandfather during the Civil War while fixing things that had apparently gone wrong. As the shows mythology grew, Sam met and "evil leaper", Alia, and her hologram co-hort, Zooey and learned that maybe something, or someone was guiding him through time. In the series finale, Sam had leapt into a bar where he was himself, and a bartender, named Al, seemed to know more about Sam and why he was doing what he was doing. Sam learns that he can continue leaping, only now as himself rather than inhabiting someone else's body, and that he can put a very important wrong to right. It ends with Sam leaping to the home of Al's first wife (and presumably his true love) and tells her that Al didn't die in the war, but that he would come home to her (remember if you will that Al was a POW and presumed dead...by the time he returned, Beth had remarried). We are told that Al and Beth were eventually reunited and that Dr. Sam Beckett never returned home.

Alternate endings have surfaced (which I know I have seen on television, but some claim can only be seen on the internet) where we see a picture of Al, Beth and their four daughters. Many have speculated that Sam couldn't have returned home even if he wanted to, because by changing Al's past, he never ended up with the project. They've also speculated that this would have undone all that Sam changed, but the shows creator Donald Bellasario says this was not the case. Another ending (shot but never aired because of the cancellation), a cliff hanger, we see Beth and the family talking about Sam and that he had leaped somewhere beyond his lifetime. Beth asks Al if Ziggy told him, he replies NO he just knows. She tell him she bets the Bartender knows, if he is God, he would know. It concludes with Al leaping to the bar and telling the other Al that he wants to be with Sam, as a leaper, with all the risks - next thing we see is Al in a space bar in the year one could assume 2099 and he is a woman.(courtesy of www.tv.com)

There is a TV movie in development, speculating to take place 20 years in the future(there are a few details at www.imdb.com..."Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward." Hopefully this will come to fruition and we'll get a little more closure as to what happened to Sam and Al.

Dark Angel

"Dark Angel" was a futuristic show about a young girl, Max (Jessica Alba), who had been genetically engineered and had escaped, along with others like her, from their military handlers. From the shows opening credits :
"They designed her to be the perfect soldier...
a human weapon...then she escaped.
In a future not far from now...in a broken world...
she is haunted by her past.
She cannot run, she must fight...to discover her destiny. "

Max was aided by Logan (Michael Weatherly), a young man in a wheelchair who ran a Website called "Eyes Only." There he seeked to expose the corruptedness of their government and various mysteries.

Over the course of its two season run, many mysteries were exposed on Dark Angel. During the second season, Max brings down Manticore, but finds that she has an even more deadly enemy in a millennia-old breeding cult structured similar to the Illuminati. This has resulted in humans even more formidable than the Manticore-produced transgenics, and now this cult is trying to hunt them all down. It turns out that a renegade from the cult, Sandeman, was largely responsible for Manticore's genesis. The villain Ames White is Sandeman's son, which essentially makes him Max's brother. The series was cancelled before the producers could really play with this dynamic, however (source: Wikipedia). So what were the marks? What was the plan for Max? According to the commentary on the Season 2 DVDs, the marks on her body were a code put there by Sandeman. Apparently White's cult was planning to poison the air to kill all of the transgenic mutants, and the runes contained the cure. Books are also available that tell about the events after the finale's stand-off.

Joan of Arcadia

"Joan of Arcadia" was a terrific show about a 16-year-old who received regular visits from God, asking her to do different tasks. Joan, the titular character, was often cheeky and annoyed by God, who appeared in various forms like a Punk teen, a young girl, and and old woman to name a few. Joan never understood why God was asking her to do what he did until the end of the episode, where she would begin to learn about how we are all connected and that our actions, large and small, can make the biggest of changes.

Joan, of course, had the small circle of friends including Grace, Adam, her younger brother Luke and his on and off friend Friedman. Her family had recently been through the car accident of her older brother Kevin that had left him paralyzed from the waist down and left her mother questioning her faith. Over the two seasons, Joan's mother began to rediscover her faith (and realize that there was more going on in the world than she thought), Kevin began to create a new life for himself, her father struggled to make the world a better place and Luke just tried to get by.

The final few episodes introduced a new character, Ryan Hunter (played by "Prison Break's Wentworth Miller). Ryan seemed to be the ideal citizen, involved in not only the local school, but with the police, newspaper and community in general. Eventually he, or God (can't remember), that he could also see God, but had chosen a different path...one where he perhaps listened to someone else. God tells Joan that the past two years were practice for what was to come, preparation for her greatest challenge. Joan quickly discovered Ryan's darker side and it was clear that her greatest challenge would in some way involve him, though everyone thought he was a wonderful person.

Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to find anything concrete about what would have come in the third season. There are rumors that the show's creator/writer, Barbara Hall, will one day write a book about Joan's "greatest" challenge. I've e-mailed her without response (yet...I'm holding out hope). A poster on the Internet Movie Database claims the third season would have centered around twins--one who spoke to God, and the other the Devil, and the Devil himself (possibly Ryan?). Another website claimed that Joan's friends would eventually learn her secret and become her "army."

So nothing concrete...but I'll keep searching. In the meantime, fans can show their support at www.savejoanofarcadia.com.

Wonderfalls

"Wonderfalls" was a curious show (again aired on Fox...cancelled after only four episodes) about a young college graduate who returned to her home town only to work in a souvenir shop. In each episode, the main character Jaye, was instructed to do things by inanimate objects in the store that would come to life with the purpose of giving her instructions. It was so abruptly cancelled, it wasn't even given the honor of a cliff-hanger. Originally there were only 13 intended episodes that are now available on DVD From Amazon. All thirteen episodes have aired on the LOGO network, which is limited in availability.

Although the series creators had intended for the 13 episodes of Wonderfalls to tell a standalone story (perhaps anticipating cancellation after the first season), apparently the writers were already thinking as much as two years ahead. According to an interview featured on the 2005 DVD release of the series, the producers revealed that they already had plans for the second and third season. In the second season, Jaye’s therapist would document their sessions, eventually publishing a book on her, which would lead to her being institutionalized with “Jesus Syndrome” in the third season.

Angel

The series "Angel" a spin-off from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" featured the titular vampire with a soul who was struggling not only with his inner *ahem* demons but also with stopping an evil law firm, Wolfram & Hart, from destroying the world (or as we supposedly found out in one episode that Earth is Hell and they're just trying to keep it that way.

The final season of Angel brought many changes. Angel's nemesis Spike returned, first as a ghost and then as a "full-blooded" vampire. Fred was killed by Illyria's takeover of her body and Wesley was killed in the final episode (a shame too, because his character had grown so much). The final episode of the series left Angel, Illyria, Gunn and Spike fighting a horde of demons that had arisen and...that was it. We were left not knowing whether they lived or died.

Well, as it turns out, that was exactly the way the creator of the show, Joss Whedon, wanted it. In an interview with Whedon on www.zap2it.com, Whedon said the following about the untimely demise of "Angel": "It isn't the end of all things. It's not a final grace note after a symphony they way 'Buffy' was," Whedon says. "We're definitely still in the thick of it. But it is and was meant to be the final statement about 'Angel.' The point of the show is you're never done, and whoever survives the show to get that point will embody it." Though, Joss went on to say, that should Angel have survived to the sixth season, "[there] would have been some serious chaos."

So, while cancelled before it's time--and, sorry Joss--leaving us with a cliffhanger, those are the final words about the show. However, it doesn't mean it is the end of all things "Buffy" and "Angel" as rumors have been rampant about TV and big screen movies featuring some of the characters from the shows. Now and Again

For "Now and Again" fans, the final episode left us with a doosy of a cliffhanger. Following a family dinner on Thanksgiving, Michael (Eric Close) decided to make an escape with his wife and daughter, with Dr. Morris and the government hot on their trail. I was able to find this article on Cinescape.com from Glenn Gordon Caron, creator of the show:

THE FEELING YOU WERE LEFT WITH IN THE CLIFFHANGER WAS THAT THE SHOW’S FOCUS WAS GOING TO CHANGE TO A MAN ON THE RUN TYPE SHOW, ALA THE FUGITIVE.

We had the whole thing figured out. It would have been another two, possibly three, episode arc at the beginning of the season, but we would have gotten back to the status quo. Lisa and Heather would have been okay; would not have known that Michael was, in fact, the man they once knew. They would have known something different that would have answered a lot of questions for them, but which in fact would not have been true. The Eggman would not have been done away with, and the big confrontation was going to be between Michael and Mankind [the wrestler]. We had a whole number of ideas worked out for next year, so it was frustrating.

WOULD THIS HAVE CHANGED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MICHAEL AND THEO?

The way the thing was constructed was that, in theory, it wouldn’t have. Ultimately, without going through the whole thing, you would have gotten back to something very much approaching the status quo that you had previously.

IT’S JUST THAT YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEO WOULDN’T TRUST HIM ANY LONGER.

Exactly, but, again, with everything that was going to play out, that wouldn’t have been the case. Without giving too much away, it would have worked in the same way that it did in `Deep in My Heart is a Song`, where they completely changed the relationship. That’s where Theo basically kidnapped Michael and was prepared to take Michael home when he was in the coma, and then a week later you have the Bob Balaban show where he basically kills for Michael. In that same way, Michael was going to that sort of thing for Theo.

What was always great about the show — wow, that sounds immodest — what was always compelling, was that we were very willing to take the characters all the way to the margins in terms of their characters, because I always believed that the bonds between all of them were strong enough that you could always bring them back. That was part of what the cliffhanger was all about. You look at the cliffhanger and you think, `Well, there’s no way this is ever going back to the way it was,` but in fact there was a plan to do just that. And it wouldn’t have all just been a dream.

Ahh...so there it is. Not terribly in depth, but some amount of closure.

Imagine my surprise when I found this favorite replaying on the SCIFI network last night at 7 p.m.! I think Dominic Purcell ("John", currently playing Lincoln Burroughs on Fox's "Prison Break") is a great actor, and this was a GREAT TV show. For a quick recap, John was an amnesiac with incredible mental powers (it seemed as though he knew everything there was to know about everything, except, of course, for his identity)and who also only saw in black and white, except for the occasion burst of color (later leading into some sort of psychic ability). His two friends were a cop, Frank, and Digger. Over the course of the season John solved several mysteries and helped many people all while searching for the truth about himself and keeping out of the way of The Phoenix Group, an organization who, as it turns out knew more about John than John. In the series finale, it was exposed that Digger was a member of the Phoenix Group.

Purcell had recently given an interview and revealed the following:

"'Apparently I was the messiah returned," Purcell said, confirming an earlier report in Entertainment Weekly. As for the Phoenix group? 'They were working for the Vatican. ... The Catholics. They didn't want it to be revealed that the true Christ had returned.'

Purcell's character had actually either died or come near death, when all knowledge is revealed, then returned with no memory of his past life."

Purcell did not reveal, however, John's true name.

Lois and Clark: The New Adventures...

For fans of this show, such as myself, I was soooo angry when they cancelled. As you may recall the final episode, entitled "The Family Hour" centered around Lois and Clark's parents being kidnapped, and consequently rescued by Superman. The ending was the real shocker, when Clark awakes, hearing something no one can. Lois follows him downstairs, and into the den, where they discover a baby, wrapped in a Superman blanket with a note asking them to take care of the baby.

This abrupt ending left everyone wondering...who was the baby, was it theirs somehow (even though they had been told they wouldn't be able to have children). According to an interview with one of the show's producers, she said that the baby, a boy, would have been a descendant of Lois & Clark's from the future. The same time period Tempus was from. He gave few specifcs but said that the child was sent to the past as protection from something or someone. A side effect of his superpowers would have been excelerated aging. The intent was to cover all of this in a extended story arc at the beginning of a season 5.

So, while not as satifying as actually seeing what would have happened, as least now we have some idea.
